The Rules of Publication and Spelling


General Principles

  1. The BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal may publish special issues and additional supplements outside of regularly released issues when necessary.
  2. Scientific articles, interviews, translations, and promotional writings, once added to the journal system, are considered submissions for publication and are sent to the peer review process.
  3. All copyright of submitted articles belongs to BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal, and articles cannot be published, reproduced, or used without proper citation elsewhere without permission from BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal. Additionally, any legal responsibilities arising from the articles belong to the authors.
  4. The publishing language of BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal is Turkish, English, German, French, and Russian.
  5. Each article should include a Turkish (Abstract) and English (Abstract) of at least 200 words at the beginning, along with 5 Turkish (Anahtar Kelimeler) and English (Key Words) each. Failure to meet these requirements will result in the non-publication of the articles, even if the peer review process is completed.
  6. As articles submitted to BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal go through the peer review process, no information revealing the author's identity should be included in the submitted writings. Information about the author or authors will be added to the article by the editor after the peer review process is completed.
  7. After being uploaded by the author to the BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal system, the article undergoes the following processes: it is first checked for compliance with publication and writing rules by the editor/editorial assistants. Once editor approval is obtained, the article is directed to the reviewers. For each approved article, three reviewers are assigned, including one foreign language abstract reviewer and two reviewers specializing in the relevant field. Authors should follow the peer review process of their articles from their personal homepage.
  8. Articles added to the BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal system should not have been previously published elsewhere. Symposium papers may be published if indicated within the article.
  9. At the end of the text, under the title REFERENCES, works cited should be arranged in alphabetical order by the author's surname, with the surname in uppercase and the first name in lowercase.
  10. All information requested must be filled in completely when becoming a member as an author or reviewer for BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal. The author's/reviewer's areas of work and interest should be listed under the CV title, with the department and field of science written under the Department title.
  11. In BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal, articles are designed in double columns except for abstracts and summaries. However, this design must be done by our journal's design team. Authors must upload their work to our journal in a single-column format.
  12. Articles in BAL-TAM Turkic Studies Journal are published free of charge.
  13. When submitting articles to the journal system, the following standards should be adhered to:

Page Layout

  1. Articles should be written in Microsoft Word, and page structures should be formatted as follows: Paper Size: A4 Vertical Top Margin: 3 cm Bottom Margin: 2 cm Left Margin: 2 cm Right Margin: 3 cm Font: Times New Roman Font Style: Normal Font and Title Size: 12 Footnote Text Size: 9 Paragraph Spacing: Before 6 pts - After 6 pts Paragraph Indentation: 0.75 cm Line Spacing: 1
  2. Articles should not include details such as page numbers, headers, and footers.
  3. Regarding spelling and punctuation, the Turkish Language Institution spelling guide should be followed except in cases where the article or topic requires otherwise.
  4. APA writing system should be adhered to in citation systems used in articles.
